Gigabyte - 1,000 megabytes, a space for storing information on a computer.
Harddrive - A built in disk inside your computer that all of your computer's information is stored on
Internet - A network system that allows one's computer to communicate with other computers.
ISP - Stands for Internet Service Provider. An example is America Online or Earthlink.
LAN - Local Area Network. A setup were a number of computers are linked together and can share information.
Megabyte - A space for storing information on a computer.
Modem - A device that allows computers to communicate.
Monitor - A device that is connected to a computer system that allows the user to see what is happening and see to communicate with the computer. (It is what you are probably looking at right now.)
Mouse - A device that allows one to move a cursor on a screen to select items and change items. Computers usually have one of these.
Network - Usually in an office or school, the computers are networked, meaning you can access your files from any computer in the network.
Prefixes and Sufffixes
-.jpg - suffix to a picture file - a smaller type of picture format
-.bmp - suffix to a picture file - stands for bitmap, a larger, but more detailed picture format
Taskbar - Unless you are using Web TV or Macintosh, it's that colored strip at the bottom of your screen.
